NELSON NORDIC SNOWSHOE TRAILS

A scenic set of snowshoe trails that loop through old-growth forests and wetlands.

Difficulty: A1 easy
Distance: 1.5-6.45 km
Elevation: +80m
Season: mid-December to late March

Drive. From Nelson, drive 13km south on Highway 6 and turn left on the Clearwater and the Nelson Nordic Ski Club. This is a separate trailhead from the Nelson Nordic’s main entrance across from Whitewater Ski Road. A snowshoe day pass costs $5/person.

Trail. Follow the Busk-Euphrates trail, cross Apex Creek and pick one of the snowshoe trails, a series of loops, avoiding the ski trails.
Big Cedar Loop is a 1.65 km round-trip along Apex Creek passing some massive old-growth cedars.

I would like to think of myself as a full time traveler. I have been retired since 2006 and in that time have traveled every winter for four to seven months. The months that I am "home", are often also spent on the road, hiking or kayaking. I hope to present a website that describes my travel along with my hiking and sea kayaking experiences.
