A loop of old roads and bike trails, climbing through the forest to a series of lookouts over Kootenay Lake.

Drive. Cross the Harrop-Proctor ferry
0.0 Harrop-Proctor Road as it passes the Proctor General Store and turns into Proctor Road East.
10.2 km. At the very end of Proctor Road East, park in a turnaround circle signed “Kootenay Lake Village”.
Trail. Walk back up the road a minute to Lexington Avenue and the trailhead. There are two main trails that intersect in multiple places. The “old road” is used by mountain bikes to ascend. The official “Proctologist trail” is the descent trail for bikes. Hike a loop or a figure-eight on this trail network, Use the Trail Forks app.
Ascend the old road, a gentle trail with spurs to Lookouts 1-5.
This description follows a figure-eight, up the old road and then at 2 km, the Proctologist. Lookouts 4 and 5 at the top of the old road have picnic tables, a shelter and the biggest views.
