Cobalt Lake. Brenta Peak (I climbed in 2000) is in the background. Contour to the left around the lake and climb the small glacier on the upper left. Descend into the valley, turn right to access Appleby Camp, descend to the Conrad Kain Hut and return to the parking lot. The best day hike in the world.

Silverspray. My favourite place in the West Kootenay. Climb Sunrise, Moonlight and McQuarrie Peaks. Visit the iconic Violet Mine. The Lyall’s larch are magnificent in late September. Rent the hut through the Alpine Club of Canada.

About admin

I would like to think of myself as a full time traveler. I have been retired since 2006 and in that time have traveled every winter for four to seven months. The months that I am "home", are often also spent on the road, hiking or kayaking. I hope to present a website that describes my travel along with my hiking and sea kayaking experiences.
