CEDAR MESA – Hikes

The Anasazi arrived in about 1000 AD and built these dwellings under overhangs. Tree ring analysis of logs from ruins indicates a terrible drought from 1276 to 1299. By 1300, all the canyons were empty. They migrated south via Chaco Canyon and became the Pueblo Indians of New Mexico.

Chaco Culture: Chaco Culture National Historic Park x2: Pueblo Bonito, Kin Kletso, Penasco Blanco, Pueblo Alto, Tsin Kletsin. One of the best Anasazi Ruins. Has a great campground. Easy to spend 3-4 days doing all the great hikes. Regular programs of astronomers and telescopes.
